Usage Questions

I keep taking my mask off

  • We suggest to keep putting it on every night and your body will eventually get used to it.

I get up a lot to go to the bathroom

  • Turn the machine off, and remove mask.
  • Disconnect the tubing from the mask and turn the machine off.

I have a cold or am sick

  •  Do not use machine.

I just cannot get used to the machine

  • It takes time for your body to adapt to the mask and the machine. Use the machine nightly and hopefully your body will adapt quicker. If you wake up and have to take the mask off, go ahead but use the machine nightly if possible. It may be in small increments, but your body will get used to it.
  • If after a fair trial period you just cannot get used to the machine, it is between the patient and the doctor; a BiPAP may be suggested.

Can I travel with the machine?

  • Yes. If flying, manufacturers suggest that you treat it as a ‘carry on’ and store it on the overhead compartment.
  • Make sure you empty any water out of your humidifier.

I’m not seeing any improvement

  • Contact our therapist and discuss having your doctor request a home oximetry test to measure your overnight oxygen levels.

I can’t breathe out

  • If you have a pressure of 10 or greater, contact your therapist to discuss the differences between CPAP and BiPAP.

I am experiencing dry nose or mouth

  • If you are currently using nasal appendages, we would recommend a chin strap.
  • Check with doctor to see if using a simple saline mist before use could be helpful.
  • Adjust the water and heater levels .
